AV Troubleshooting Guide & Quick Fixes
ECS spaces use Crestron digital touch panels or Extron analog control panels, along with HDMI wall plate connections.
Before contacting ECS for AV support, review the common issues and quick fixes below. Many problems can be resolved in just a few minutes.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact ECS for assistance.
No Image on the Screen?
Step 1: Check the Crestron or Extron Panel
Ensure the system is powered on.
On Crestron touch panels, confirm the display is not muted or turned off.
On Extron panels, confirm the correct input button is selected.

Step 2: Check the HDMI Wall Plate
Confirm the HDMI cable is fully inserted into the wall plate.
Ensure your adapter (if using one) is securely connected.
Try unplugging and reconnecting the HDMI cable.

Step 3: Check Your Laptop Display Settings
On Windows: Press Windows + P and select “Duplicate” or “Extend.”
On Mac: Open System Settings → Displays and confirm the external display is detected.
If the display remains blank after these steps, contact ECS.
No Sound?
Check the Room System
Confirm the audio system is powered on.
On Crestron panels, check that volume is turned up and not muted.
On Extron panels, confirm the volume knob or buttons are adjusted appropriately.

Check Your Device
Ensure your laptop is not muted.
Confirm the correct audio output device is selected (HDMI or room system).
If audio is still not functioning, contact ECS.
Microphone Not Working?
Ensure the microphone is powered on (if wireless).
Confirm it is not muted.
Verify the receiver unit is powered on.
Check volume levels on the Crestron or Extron panel.
If using a wireless microphone, ensure it is within range of the receiver.
If issues persist, contact ECS.
Laptop Not Connecting?
Confirm you are using the HDMI wall plate.
Ensure your adapter is compatible with your device.
Restart your laptop.
Reconnect the HDMI cable.
If the connection still fails, contact ECS.
Touch Panel Not Responding?
If the Crestron touch panel screen is black or frozen, wait a few moments to confirm it is not waking from sleep.
Do not force-reset or disconnect any equipment.
If the panel remains unresponsive, contact ECS immediately.
When to Contact ECS Immediately
Contact ECS right away if:
-Equipment appears physically damaged.
-There are exposed wires or electrical concerns.
-The control panel is unresponsive.
-The room setup does not match your confirmed event details.
For urgent issues during your event, contact ECS rather than attempting additional troubleshooting.
