Find parking, directions, and delivery access details for ECS-managed spaces at Rutgers University–Newark.
Parking Overview
Parking on campus is managed by Rutgers University Department of Transportation Services (RU DOTS).
- Weekday parking (including evenings) is highly restricted.
- Large-volume weekday event parking requests may be denied.
- Summer weekdays offer slightly more flexibility but remain limited.
- Organizers should coordinate parking needs well in advance.
- All event parking requests are subject to RU DOTS approval and availability.
For larger events, consider nearby public garages and off-campus options. ECS maintains a list of recommended off-campus parking locations upon request.

Visitor parking is available in nearby university parking decks and metered street parking.
- Rutgers parking facilities are managed by Rutgers Department of Transportation Services (DOTS) and require advance coordination for event parking
- Street meters surrounding PRCC are enforced by the City of Newark and are not managed by Rutgers DOTS
- Requests to tape off up to five (5) metered spaces must be submitted through ECS during event planning
- When approved, Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) may tape off the designated spaces
- Reserved meters must still be paid
- When approved, Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) may tape off the designated spaces
- Oversized vehicles must coordinate access prior to arrival

Visitor parking is available in nearby university decks, metered street parking, and Lot 506 (Essex Lot) located behind the building.
- Street parking is enforced by the City of Newark
- Lot 506 (Essex Lot) is the closest Rutgers-operated parking lot to RBG
- Large events may require advance coordination for guest parking
- Bus parking must be arranged in advance

- Vendor vehicles using the Hahne Building loading dock may not remain parked after unloading
Storage & Shipping Policy
ECS does not provide general storage for event materials or equipment. Shipments may not arrive before the day of the event and must be picked up no later than 8:00 AM the following morning unless written approval is granted in advance. Items shipped without prior authorization will be refused and returned to the sender. Materials left after an event will be subject to removal and associated charges.

Deliveries
- All deliveries must be scheduled in advance and receive written confirmation from ECS prior to arrival
- Unconfirmed deliveries may be denied access
- Access may be directed through the main entrance or designated service entrances depending on event needs
- Vendors must check in with ECS staff upon arrival
- Early morning, evening, or weekend deliveries may require additional staffing

21 Essex Street- All deliveries must be scheduled in advance and receive written confirmation from ECS prior to arrival
- Unconfirmed deliveries may be denied access
- Trucks up to 52' in length will fit
- Vendors must check in prior to unloading
- Access outside standard building hours may require additional staffing
Clement’s Place
Delivery procedures vary based on size:
Small Deliveries
Vendors may deliver through the main entrance of RBG Hall at 15 Washington Street. Vendors must check in with security. Event organizers must be present to receive deliveries. Security will not hold items.Large Deliveries / Equipment Load-In
Vendors must access the service entrance through the RBG loading dock at 21 Essex Street. The Clement’s Place service entrance is located at the rear of the dock area. Event organizers must be present to receive deliveries. Security will not hold items. -
Deliveries
- All deliveries must be scheduled in advance and receive written confirmation from ECS prior to arrival
- Unconfirmed deliveries may be denied access
- Vendors may receive specific arrival instructions depending on event location within the building
- Street access limitations may apply
- Access outside standard building hours requires prior approval
- Security will not hold items
Hahne Building Loading Dock Access
- The Hahne Building loading dock is managed by Hahne Building management and is not controlled by ECS or Express Newark staff
- Use of the loading dock must be requested at least seven (7) days in advance
- Event organizers must coordinate this request through their assigned ECS event salesperson
- Approval of dock access is at the sole discretion of Hahne Building management
- Unscheduled dock access will not be permitted
